Joe-Max starred for the UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) College team, the Olympic team in 1992 and made his full debut in September 1992 against Canada.
He signed for German Third Division side FC Saarbruecken in 1994, moved to Second Division side Nurnburg for the next season before signing for MLS team New England Revolution in 1996.
He has been a regular in the international side and his exceptional club and country performances led to him joining Everton in December 1999. He burst onto the Premiership scene with a flurry of goals but Joe-Max couldn't buy a goal in 2000-01.
A quick, elusive forward with good finishing skills, he was disappointing throughout his second English season. He was never really helped by a consistent run of matches but showed his versatility by playing in midfield on occasions.
After an entire year without a goal, he broke his duck in a reserve team match at Manchester City, sadly just a little too late in the season to give him confidence to take into the next Premiership campaign.
Although he could not win a regular place at Everton, Joe-Max continued to appear for the USA in international matches and won his 100th cap in the Word Cup finals game against Poland in Daejeon in June 2002.
He is a strong, good in the air and knows where the goal is.
